Content Details

The information about the components defined within the Content section can (also) be edited by the Pipe Specification Row Detail Editor.

In addition to the settings which can be made directly within the Content table, the Row Detail Editor offers also some extra attributes to be set.

General

This section allows to edit the Key Name, Size Parameter, Other Parameters, Reduced Diameter, Favorite, Overlay, and P&ID ID attributes of the selected component.

Part

The Part section allows the user to edit the Standard Parts Information; i.e. to (re)select the desired standard part. The selection can be done within the respective standard parts provider.

The main standard parts provider can be launched by selecting the top-left button, an additional provider can be launched from the drop-down.

Clear, on the other hand, allows the user to clear the standard part selection. This can be used e.g. for removing individual parts of composed components such as unions.

Since unions (or generally, the components of key names which have assigned the Union QuickPlace method) have defined a fixed set of sub-components (flange, counter flange, gasket and lap-joint), it is not possible to remove these sub-components by removing the respective row within the Content section. It is only possible not to define standard parts for such components (e.g. unions which do not contain gaskets). But if the standard part has already been set, the only possibility to reset it is to use Clear within the Row Detail Editor.

Virtual characteristics

In addition to the virtual characteristics which can be set for all the (specified) objects of the pipeline generated using the respective pipe specification, it is also possible to define specific virtual characteristics for individual components.

The virtual characteristic names can be manually entered or selected from the drop-down that can be fed via the PipeSpecificationVirtualCharsCommonNames.txt file (stored within the Smap3D Plant Design system configuration folder).

Every single row of this file (which can be created within the common settings of Pipe Specification Editor) stands for a virtual characteristic name (empty rows are ignored).

Virtual characteristics can be later used by Smap3D Isometric to define virtual components such as bolts, washers, and nuts to be listed in material lists of the resulting isometric drawings. For the proper names of virtual characteristics please refer to the Bolts, Washers and Nuts (Isometric) section of help.

Additional items

This section has been designed primarily for defining virtual components (typically, bolts, washers, and nuts) attached to the respective component (selected).

Similarly as the virtual characteristics described above, this information can be later used by Smap3D Isometric to display the fasteners in material lists of the resulting isometric drawings.

The advantage of this method is that it is not necessary to define a lot of attributes (i.e. virtual characteristics or custom properties) which must be properly named (which is error prone).

On the other hand, it requires to have the desired fasteners available as standard parts (by means of the respective standard parts provider).

For each item (row) a unique Index must be set. Quantity defines the number of pieces to add. Selecting the respective standard parts provider button starts the part (additional item) selection.

When the part is selected, the Part name, File name, and Category entries are filled automatically.

In case the selected part is a bolt/screw, nut, or washer, values for Thread, Length, and Diameter are set too.

The Additional items mapping form within the common settings of Pipe Specification Editor allows to map the required properties of the selected standard parts to additional component features ITEM_CODE and ITEM_DESCRIPTION. Please refer to the Bolts, Washers and Nuts (Isometric) section of help for details.
