Creating CAD Subassemblies

Since To-Do List is optimized to work generally with a piping assembly which is part of some top-level assembly and is opened in edit mode, there has been designed a function able to create such subassemblies automatically.

Create subassembly in CAD creates a subassembly of the active assembly (even if it is opened in edit mode).

Typically, the new subassembly name is taken from the original P&ID line property Line Number (this value is also taken as the name for multi-pipelines or first part of names of pipeline nodes in To-Do List).

In case of an integration with some PDM system, the name could be set automatically.

How to create a subassembly in CAD

To create a subassembly in CAD, follow these steps:

  1. Set the desired assembly template in To-Do List options if required. If there is no special template selected the default one is used.
  2. Select a pipeline or multi-pipeline in To-Do List.
  3. Start Create subassembly in CAD .
