Virtual Characteristic Writer Overview

Smap3D Virtual Characteristic Writer (VC Writer) is a tool designed for managing custom virtual characteristics of occurrences within Piping assemblies (typically).

Just as for file properties, virtual characteristics in general are defined by their names and values.

However, in contrast to file properties, virtual characteristics are attributes of individual occurrences, so that two occurrences derived from the same file may have different virtual characteristics.

Virtual characteristics cannot be easily displayed within the content of an opened CAD assembly (where these are written), but can be later used in Smap3D Plant Design applications such as Isometric or PCFExport.

Custom virtual characteristic are a special kind of virtual characteristic that can be managed by the user using the VC Writer application.

For the selected occurrence, VC Writer can display and write values of the custom virtual characteristics defined in the VirtualCharsWriterNames.txt file.

Any other eventual custom virtual characteristic are removed by writing the current predefined set!

In fact, all the custom virtual characteristics are written with the prefix of VC_ that is neither part of the predefined names in the VirtualCharsWriterNames.txt file nor displayed in VC Writer.
