Piping Overview

Smap3D Piping is the ideal add-in for SOLIDWORKS to create connected piping systems using fittings.

The Smap3D standard parts library of plant design components is used to provide the user with a powerful complete package for the speedy application of their requirements in specification driven pipeline planning and pipeline design based on SOLIDWORKS.

The procedure for this is very straightforward.

A 3D Sketch is used to draw the path of the pipeline. The user can then use Smap3D Piping to place bends, tees, flanges, gaskets and so on as well as generating the pipelines automatically.

The generation of insulations around a pipeline and adding reducing components to a pipeline can also be done automatically.

It is also possible to place other fittings from the extensive Smap3D standard parts library for plant design components or to use user-defined fittings (e.g. valves) to place the parts semi-automatically.

Smap3D Piping recognizes which pieces of pipes are missing between fittings and generates them automatically according to the required pipe specification and its diameter.

Properties are written to the pipes and fittings to be used in the bill of material (BOM).
